Part of the Express Engineering Group

We delivered a comprehensive offshore development solution for the Scarborough gas field, located 270 kilometres north-west of Onslow in the Carnarvon Basin, Western Australia.

Situated in challenging water depths of 900 to 1,500 metres, our scope included the end-to-end delivery of subsea infrastructure and the integration of a floating production unit (FPU) to support high-capacity gas processing offshore.

Our involvement covered the design, engineering, and installation of 12 daisy-chained subsea wells, tied back to a moored semi-submersible floating production unit (FPU). As part of the initial development phase, we drilled seven high-angle and horizontal wells to depths of around 2,500 metres, ensuring optimal reservoir contact and production efficiency. We provided full subsea tieback solutions including flowline and umbilical installation, leveraging our expertise to minimise seabed footprint while maximising operational performance.

The FPU, designed for a production capacity of up to 9 million tonnes per annum, was delivered with a fully integrated topside processing system. We managed the installation and commissioning of gas separation, dehydration, and compression systems, along with Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG) regeneration and water handling capabilities. These systems were designed to meet stringent offshore environmental standards while ensuring long-term reliability in harsh marine conditions.

This project stands as a testament to our ability to deliver complex offshore infrastructure on time and to specification, even in the most challenging environments. From subsea to topside, we brought together engineering excellence, field-proven technology, and project management discipline to help our client unlock one of Australia’s most significant gas resources.
